STEP 1 : How to begin transferring the design on a fabric bag
To begin with choose a theme or a pattern that you would like to have on your bag. We have chosed a very unique theme, that of a Theyyam face, which has a lot of scope for painting with varied colour combinations.
Once having decided the theme, we drew the same on an A4 white paper, which later was traced on the bag using white carbon paper.
You can see how we have placed the design on the bag; it's differently placed on one side to give an entirely different look.
STEP 2 : The painting of the fabric bag
The fun part, painting on the fabric bag. We have chosen to use Fevicryl Fabric Colours to paint the various parts of the Theyyam face that was traced on the bag.
Paint the face with Fabric Colour – White 227 first, as the Fevicryl Neon Colours that we are going to use will stand out brilliantly by doing so. Leave it to dry completely.
Now use Fevicryl Fabric Colours - Black 202, Chrome Yellow 203, Ultramarine Blue 223, Yellow Ochre 226, White 227, Vandyke Brown 237, Coral Red 266, Acrylic Colour Neon Yellow 011, Green 012, Orange 017 and Pink 018 to complete painting then entire Theyyam face.
It looks beautiful once done, a well-blended concept of tradition and modernity.
