STEP 1 : Preparing the bamboo glasses for painting
We have taken 2 bamboo glasses. Paint them using Acrylic Colour – White 27, this is the base coat for the bamboo glasses. The base coat will give a good finesse towards the end. Leave them to dry completely.
STEP 2 : Transferring the design on to the bamboo glasses.
We have chosen to depict a king and a queen in the Miniature style of painting. We drew the theme on an A4 white paper and then further traced the same on the bamboo glasses using yellow carbon paper. Do refer to the image as how we have placed the theme.
STEP 3 : Painting the background of the bamboo glasses
We adopted a different technique here, that being; we began painting the background of the bamboo glasses first, instead of the Miniature painting that was traced. This way the outlines and the faces stood out prominently. Also there are going to be Sanskrit shlokas that would be painted in a calligraphic style in the background, hence we did it this way. We used Acrylic Colours – Crimson 04 and Neon Orange along with a bit of Pink 18, respectively for each of the glasses and left it to dry. See the density of colour, if needed paint 2 coats for a go0d brilliant shade. Leave them to dry completely.
STEP 4 : Tracing the Sanskrit shlokas in the background
Keeping the aesthetics in mind, we chose few Sanskrit shlokas to paint in a kind of calligraphic style in the background. We began by writing them on an A4 white paper and then traced the same in the background around the Miniature faces. We used red carbon paper so that the letters were legible.
STEP 5 : Painting the shlokas in the background
To paint the shlokas in the background use Acrylic Colour – Burnt Sienna 01. We then let it dry completely.
STEP 6 : The final step, painting the Miniature faces and their jewellery
What is now left is the centric theme to be painted; the faces of the king and the queen. We used traditional and aesthetic Acrylic Colours - Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Violet 25, White 27, Acrylic Colours,Neon Yellow 011, Green 012, Orange 017, Pink 018, and Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Gold 352 for both the faces. We accentuated the jewels on them by using 3D Cone Outliner - Red 701, Light Green 704, White 708 and 3 D Cone Outliner Pearl Metallic Gold 352. The bamboo glasses with Miniature paintings on them are now ready. It's looking every bit artistic with the perfect blend of colours and concepts that are complementing each other. It's one of those rare handmade creations that one would feel very pleased and glad about.
