Description :
Experiment with different textures and patterns on clay to create a unique look on an old jar. You can also add embellishments like beads, rhinestones, or glitter to enhance the design. This technique can be applied to jars of various sizes and shapes for versatile upcycled projects.
STEP 1 : Procure the Base
- We are going to decorate the jar with a floral design.
- Begin by cleaning the old jar thoroughly, removing any labels, residue, or dirt.
- Ensure the jar is completely dry before starting the project.
STEP 2 : Prepare the Clay, Cover the Jar
- Take the Mouldit resin base and hardener, mix well to form an even dough.
- Roll out the clay using a rolling pin or flatten it with your hands on a flat surface.
- The clay should be large enough to wrap around the jar.
- Cover the jar with the clay slab using a little amount of Fabric Glue.
- While the clay is still soft, use a modelling tool to create porous textures on the clay-covered jar. Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Paint the Base Coat
- Paint the base coat of Acrylic Colour White 27. Let it dry.
STEP 4 : Create flowers and paint
- Roll out more Mouldit clay and use it to create small flowers, leaves, or other decorative elements.
- Shape the flowers by hand. Once the clay flowers and leaves are shaped, allow them to dry slightly so they hold their form.
- Paint the flowers and leaves using Acrylic Colours Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Pink 18, Sap Green 21, and White 27. Let it dry.
STEP 5 : Stick the Flowers
- Stick the painted flowers and leaves onto the clay-covered jar using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
STEP 6 : Enhancement & Final Look
- Similarly, paint the lid with Acrylic Colour Chrome Yellow 03 and decorate it with a few painted flowers and leaves using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
- Your jar is ready to keep knick-knacks or chocolates.
