Description :

Create a beautiful terracotta lamp using a recycled cold drink bottle and hand-painted fabric with floral designs. This advanced project combines upcycling and fabric painting for unique home décor.

STEP 1 : Prepare the Design

We are going to make the lampshade using a plastic cold drink bottle from scrap and cover it with fabric painted with a floral design.
Take A3 white paper, draw the floral design on it.

STEP 2 : Trace the Design

Take half a meter of casement fabric in off-white colour.
Trace the same design on the fabric with yellow carbon paper.

STEP 3 : Paint the Design

Paint the design with Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Orange 17, White 27, and Flesh Tint 30. Let it dry.

STEP 4 : Prepare the Lampshade Base

Take the cold drink bottle from scrap (we have taken a 1-litre bottle), mark and cut the base and the mouth side of the bottle to get the cylindrical shape.
Cover the cut bottle base by sticking the painted fabric using Fabric Glue. Let it dry. Refer to the image.

STEP 5 : Procure the Base for Lampshade

Take a prewashed terracotta vase as the base for the lampshade.

STEP 6 : Paint the Vase

Paint the vase by tracing a similar design and paint with similar shades as the floral design on the lampshade.
Let the colours dry completely.

STEP 7 : Final Attachment

Create a hole towards the bottom side edge of the vase from the carpenter for light attachments.
Attach the holder on the topside of the vase.
Take the painted lampshade and attach it to the vase neatly.

STEP 8 : Final Look

Your lampshade made from a cold drink bottle and fabric is ready.
