Paint A Rice Sieve For Pongal

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Sunflower Kit, Fevicryl Pearl Metallic Gold, Fine Art Brush, Fine Art Canvas roll, Fevicol MR, Traditional rice sieve

Description :
Traditional farming methods use the rice sieve to separate rice from the husk. In every traditional house in India, rice sieves form a part of the decoration during Pongal/Sankranthi. Here’s a small DIY to decorate a rice sieve for the harvest festival.
STEP 1
Wipe the rice sieve with a dry cloth to clean the surface from dust.
STEP 2
Paint a simple design of your choice onto the Fine Art canvas roll using Fevicryl Acryliccolours. I have painted a simple Warli-Madhubani fusion design which is known as Madhu-Warli. Warli is a traditional Indian art form from Maharashtra where Sankranthi is celebrated with great pomp!
STEP 3
Stick the painted canvas onto the rice sieve using Fevicol.
STEP 4
Use Fevicryl Acrylic colour- Sap Green to work on the weaves of the Rice Sieve.
STEP 5
Using a dry flat bush, give strokes of Fevicryl Acrylic Color- Pearl Metallic Gold to give a metallic gold finish on the painted areas.
STEP 6
Paint the remaining area of the rice sieve using Fevicryl Acrylic colour- Burnt Sienna.
STEP 7
The painted traditional rice seive can be kept in a corner for display or even be used to adorn a wall.
