Description :

A beautiful DIY one that’s been made into a tapestry. Taking inspiration from Kalamkari comes this pretty painting of Lord Krishna with enhancements in the backdrop giving it a look that’s elegant.

STEP 1 : Source the base

Take a 12” x 16” casement fabric and dye it using Fevicryl Fabric Colour – Orange 217. Let it dry. We will also be taking another casement fabric of this very size to stick it from the rear side later.

STEP 2 : Drawing the pattern

Taking inspiration from the revered art style of Kalamkari, draw Lord Krishna with a flute in the midst of floral trees / tree of life. Trace this on the fabric using white carbon paper.

STEP 3 : Enhancing the flowers

Place & stick foil mirrors to create the flowers, like you see in the image. Let it dry.

STEP 4 : Painting the leaves

Paint the leaves using Fevicryl 3D Outliner - Black 708. Let it dry.

STEP 5 : Painting Lord Krishna

Begin painting the image of Lord Krishna using Fevicryl Fabric Colours – Black 202, Crimson 204, Lemon Yellow 211 & Ultramarine Blue 223. Paint the grass below using Sap Green 221.

STEP 6 : Stick the backing

Take a plain casement fabric the same size as that of the painted fabric and neatly stick it from the rear side using Fevicryl Fabric Glue, to give it a sturdy backing. Ensure to leave space above for a wooden rod to pass through.

STEP 7 : Final touches & look

Pass a wooden rod through the space created above, this would be used for hanging purposes. Stick blue woolen tassels towards the base using Fabric Glue. Your Kalamkari inspired tapestry is now ready.
