Impasto Style Sunflower On Canvas

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Raw Sienna, Crimson 04, Dark Green 06, Indian Red 10, Lemon Yellow 11, Yellow Ochre 26, Light Green 12, Prussian Blue 19, Sap Green 21, White 27, Sky Blue 63, Fevicryl 3D Outliner Yellow 703, Light Green 704, Burnt Sienna 706, Black 708, Fine Art Canvas Board 12” X 16”, Fine Art Brushes, Pencil, Painting Knife, Colour Palette, Water Container.

Description :

Impasto on Canvas using Acrylic Colours, a technique where paint is applied thick enough so that the brush or painting-knife strokes are visible.

STEP 1 : Source the base material

Take the canvas board measuring 12” x 16” in size, we are going to paint the sunflower in Impasto style on canvas.

STEP 2 : Draw the outline

Draw the simple outline of the sunflower on the canvas.

STEP 3 : Paint wash the design

Paint the basic wash effect with Fine Art Artist Acrylic Colour Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Crimson 04, Indian Red 10, Prussian Blue 19 and Sap Green 21. Let it dry. 

STEP 4 : Paint thick application

Paint the sunflower and the background with thick coats of the colours using painting knife Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Crimson 04, Dark Green 06, Lemon Yellow 11, Yellow Ochre 26, Light Green 12, Prussian Blue 19, Sap Green 21, White 27 and Sky Blue 63. Paint thick strokes of Fevicryl 3D Outliner Yellow 703 and Light Green 704 to enhance the petals of the Sunflower. Let it dry. 

STEP 5 : Final look

Paint light strokes on the background of the Sunflower by softening the strokes in a light manner. Paint the center of the flower with Fevicryl 3D Outliner Burnt Sienna 706 and Black 708, paint few petals with the similar strokes. Let it dry. The finished Painting will look like this.
