Cushion Smocking Design Tutorial
You Will Need:
1 meter Satin or silk cloth, Recron material or form , Needle, scale, scissors, No. 10 thread. marking chalk,
Description :
Canadian smocking is done by tying knots in a grid on the back of the fabric. It is interesting and creative.
You can also enhance it by pasting sequins and beads over it.
STEP 1
Take 1 meter of any silk cloth, drawn the grid box as shown in the picture.
STEP 2
Mark "X" onto every alternate box as shown in the picture.
STEP 3
Follow the points given in the picture .
STEP 4
Start the stitch from point 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 and to 1,
STEP 5
Pull the thread firmly, u see a flower is formed.
STEP 6
Notice a flower shape is formed
STEP 7
Pinch the petals together like so and take another stitch across the middle
Now string a bead, and stitch across the middle and down through the back (direction indicated by arrow). Turn the fabric over and knot the thread on the back.
Cut the thread and repeat same procedure many times.
STEP 8
Yourur Smocking flower design is ready,
STEP 9
U may use the same pattern on the other side of the cushion or leave it plain, fill it with Recron material or form and stitch all sides.
Your Smocking cushion is ready to use !!!
