STEP 1 : Base of corrugated sheets
• We are going to make the eco-friendly Ganesha idol using corrugated sheet mache/ corrugated pulp. • Take the corrugated sheets; tear them into the pieces.
STEP 2 : Soak the pieces in water
• Take the plastic bucket with water, soak the pieces of the sheet in to it. • Refer to the images. • We have to use bucket due to the size of the corrugated sheets which we are taking from the corrugated boxes.
STEP 3 : Make pulp
• Make the mache out of the soaked sheets (you will have to use blender to make the pulp/mache). Remove the excess water from the pulp/mache.
STEP 4 : Start making the Ganesha
• Take the plastic bowl; add Fevicol MR and Talcum powder to make the dough out of it. • Start building the idol of the Ganesha with coil and pinching technique. • Similarly make small mouse near Ganesha.
STEP 5 : Dry the idol
• Your idol will look like this. Keep it for drying. It will take 2 to 3 days to dry completely.
STEP 6 : Colour the idol
• Take the idol and the coaster measuring 4” x 4” in size. Paint it with Acrylic Colour Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Dark Green 06, Light Green 12, Orange 17 and White 27. • Leave it to dry completely.
