Diwali, India's biggest and most important festive season of the year, is a festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the human ability to overcome it. Make this DIY and welcome light in your home!

STEP 1 : Source the base material
  • Take a corrugated sheet, mark and cut a flower measuring 10” diameter.
  • Paint it with a base of Acrylic Colour White 27.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 2 : Prepare the dough
  • Take Mouldit resin base and hardener, mix well to make even dough. 
  • Take the dough, roll it to make a coil. Border the corrugated flower by sticking the coil using Fabric Glue.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Paint the flower
  • Paint the flower with Acrylic Colours Pearl Metallic Gold 352. Let it dry. Refer to the image.
STEP 4 : Draw the design
  • Take A3 white paper, draw the floral mandala design on it.
  • Place an OHP sheet on it and outline the design with 3D Outliner Pearl Metallic Gold 352. Let it dry.
  • Cut along the outlines of the flower shape with a pair of scissors.
STEP 5 : Paint the design
  • Paint the floral design with Fevicryl Glass colours Red, Pink and Orange. Let it dry.
  • Enhance the flower by sticking the Half-cut Pearls, Stone chain and Golden tear drop shaped stone with Fabric Glue.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 6 : Assemble the base
  • Stick the OHP floral design rangoli on the corrugated base with Fabric Glue.
  • Take some clay to make a coil design.
  • Stick the coil design in between the OHP sheet and the corrugated base end with Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
  • Paint the coil design with Acrylic Colours Pearl White 301.
STEP 7 : Finishing
  • Enhance the rangoli design by sticking the colourful pom-poms and cowrie shells aesthetically.
STEP 8 : Final look
  • Your rangoli with the corrugated and OHP sheet is ready to be placed outside your house.
