You Will Need:

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Dark Green 06, Lemon Yellow 11 Sap Green 21, White 27, Sky Blue 63, Coral Red 66, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, 10” x 12” Fine Art Canvas Boards, Fine Art Brushes, Cobbler Thread, Scissors, Pencil, A4 White Paper, White Carbon Paper, Colour Palette, Water Container

Jamini Roy was an Indian painter best known for combining traditional Indian and Western art styles to create unique and complex works. We have tried recreating the same using our Fevicryl Range of products.

STEP 1 : Source the base material
  • We are going to make animal motifs on three canvases, inspired by the paintings of the renowned artist, Jamini Roy.
  • Take A4 white paper, draw three animal motifs, such as a cat, horse and a young bull,
  • Take 3 canvases measuring 10” x 12”.
  • Paint the canvases with a basecoat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour - Indian Red 10. Let it dry.
  • Trace the cat motif on the painted canvas with white carbon paper.
STEP 2 : Stick the thread
  • Start sticking the cobbler thread by following the outline of the motif, starting from the outer edges, towards the inner side of the motif using Fabric Glue.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Paint the design
  • Paint the finer details of the cat using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Lemon Yellow 11 White 27 and Coral Red 66.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 4 : Final look
  • Similarly, make two more canvases, with a horse and bull motif and paint them using Acrylic Colours Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Dark Green 06, Sap Green 21, White 27, Sky Blue 63 And Coral Red 66.
  • Leave it to dry.
