Wooden Bead Painting

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fevicryl Acrylic Colors (Burnt Sienna, Black, Crimson, Lemon Yellow, Light Green, Orange, Ultramarine Blue, White, Deep Brilliant Purple, Black), Fevicryl 3d Glitter Gold, 2 Canvas (6’ X 8’), Wooden Beads-Round, Flat, Oval Shape ( Blue, Brown, Red, Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Dark Green, Pink, Light Brown Colours), Palette, Water Container, Brush No 4, Pencil, Eraser, Scale, Yellow Carbon Paper.

This Handloom Day, Let us honour the beautiful motifs that are woven on to our traditional fabrics by creating a wall hanging art made with colourful wooden beads which are stuck on canvas using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.  

STEP 1 : Source the base
  • Take 2 canvases measuring 6”x8” as seen in the image  
STEP 2 : Trace the design
  • Take any handloom design (motifs from saree border, pallu etc) of your choice and transfer it on to the two canvas.
  • Use yellow carbon sheet to transfer the design on to the canvas.
STEP 3 : Painting of the 1st canvas
  • Paint the canvas with the help of Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Crimson, Lemon Yellow, Light Green, Orange, Combination of Ultramarine Blue- White, Deep Brilliant Purple, Brown.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 4 : Painting of the 2nd canvas
  • Paint the canvas with the help of Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Crimson, Lemon Yellow, Light Green, Dark Green, Orange, Ultramarine Blue, combination of Brown-White, Deep Brilliant Purple
  • Let it all dry.
STEP 5 : Outlining
  • Once the paint has dried, use Fevicryl 3D Glitter Gold to outline the design as seen in the image .
  • Let it dry
STEP 6 : Sticking of beads
  • Take the round flat brown beads and stick them in the center of the design
  • Stick it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it all dry
STEP 7 : Bead sticking
  • Stick the beads on green, orange and red with the holes of the bead facing each other
  • Stick it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it all dry
STEP 8
  • Finish the first canvas by sticking the rest of the beads as seen in the image.
  • Stick it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it all dry
STEP 9 : Sticking of beads on second canvas
  • Stick the oval shaped light brown beads as shown in the image.
  • Stick it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it all dry
STEP 10 : Red and Pink beads.
  • Stick the red and pink beads with the holes facing upwards as seen in the image.
  • Stick it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it all dry
STEP 11
  • Stick the green, orange and blue beads with the holes of the beads facing the brown beads as seen in the image.
  • Stick it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it all dry
STEP 12
  • Finish the canvas with sticking the green beads and the yellow beads as shown in the image.
  • Give the beads that will be stuck on dark green a layer of Fevicryl 3D Glitter to add a bit of shine and shimmer.
  • Let it dry.
  • Stick it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it all dry
STEP 13
  • Once the beads have dried completely, apply Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Black at the edges to give it a good and neat finish.
  • It will also replicate a frame when u paint the edges black.
  • Let it all dry.
STEP 14
