Tribal Face Panels

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Dark Brown 05, Lemon Yellow 11, Orange 17, Sap Green 21, Yellow Ochre 26, White 27, Leaf Green 62, Fevicryl Mouldit, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Plywood Panels, A3 White Paper, Yellow Carbon Paper, Pencil, Corrugated Sheet, Rolling Pin, Clay Carving Tools, Colour Palette, Water Container

Make an eclectic African wall piece with the things around you with Fevicryl range of products. Read more for the procedure.

STEP 1 : Source the base and draw the design
  • We are going to make the panels with tribal faces and the tribal print using Acrylic Colours and Mouldit.
  • Take A3 white paper draw the tribal patterns on it in the size of the plywood panels.
  • Take plain wooden panels measuring 8” x 14” in size.
STEP 2 : Paint the base coat
  • Paint the panels with the base coat of Acrylic Colour White 27.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Transfer the design
  • Trace the same tribal patterns on the painted panels with yellow carbon paper.
  • Refer to the image.
STEP 4 : Paint the design
  • Start painting the design with Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Dark Brown 05, Lemon Yellow 11, Orange 17, Sap Green 21, Yellow Ochre 26, White 27 And Leaf Green 62. 
  • Let it dry.
  • Refer to the image.
STEP 5 : Make the tribal faces
  • We are going to make the tribal faces on the panels with corrugated sheet and Mouldit.
  • Take Mouldit resin base and hardener, mix it thoroughly to make even dough.
STEP 6 : Mould the elements.
  • Take the corrugated sheet, draw and cut 2 faces of the man and the lady out of it.
  • Take the dough, roll it to make a medium thin slab with rolling pin.
  • Cover the corrugated base with the Mouldit slab using Fabric Glue.
  • Let it dry.
  • Take some clay to make the hair of the lady and the head gear of the man using clay carving tools and Fabric Glue for sticking.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 7 : Attach the faces to the panels
  • Attach the face to the panel with little amount of the clay and Fabric Glue.
  • Let it dry.
  • Paint the face with Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Dark Brown 05, Lemon Yellow 11, Orange 17, Yellow Ochre 26 And White 27.
  • Leave it to dry.
