Tie And Dye Backdrop With Mandala Stencil Design

Fevicryl Fabric Colours Black 02, Prussian Blue 219, White 227, Fine Art Brushes, Poplin Fabric 1 Meter, Ready White Tassels, Cobbler Thread, Scissors, A4 White Paper, OHP Sheet, Pencil, CD Marker, Paper Cutter, Colour Palette, Water Container

Here is an uber cool way to do a backdrop for your Ganesha, a classy Shibori tye and dye enhanced with some mandalas
STEP 1 : Take plain fabric
- We are going to make the tie and dye backdrop for Ganesh Festival.
- Take the fabric mark and cut the fabric measuring 17” x 17” in size.
STEP 2 : Make a fold for tie and dye.
- Take the cut piece of the fabric, fold the fabric piece in fanfold manner.
- Fold the fanfolds to make the triangular shape.
- Take the thread and tie the triangular shape on 3 parts on equal distance.
- Refer to the image.
STEP 3
- Paint the tied fabric piece with the shade of Indigo blue made by mixing Fabric Colours Black 02 and Prussian Blue 219.
- Let it dry.
- After drying remove the tied threads, you will get to see this pattern. Iron the fabric neatly.
- Stitch the edges to secure from fraying.
STEP 4 : Make mandala stencils.
- We are going to make two different design mandala stencils.
- Take A4 white paper draw 2 mandala design 4” and 3” diameter.
- Place an OHP sheet on the design and mark the design with CD market.
- Cut the design appropriately to make the stencil.
STEP 5 : Paint through the stencil
- Take the stencil and dab it on the dyed pattern on equal distance using Fabric Colour White 227.
- Leave it to dry.
STEP 6 : Add the tassels.
- Take the ready tassels and golden beads, attach the beads with the tassels at the bottom edge with Needle and the Thread.
STEP 7 : Attach thread for hanging.
- Similarly attach the cobbler thread on the top for hanging.
