Makar Sankranti is approaching and the time is ripe for some fun and frolic. Makar Sankranti is a day where many flaunt their black and yellow best. Black because it absorbs heat and warms the body, when the winter is at it's peak and yellow signifies transformation or fire. So here we are with a quilling project which will go well with your black or yellow finery and the kite shape will add that festive touch too. Sankranti celebrations are more exciting when done in a community setup of close friends and relatives, the buzz around gets each one in the mood of celebrating.
STEP 1
We are going to make kite shaped earrings.
To make the shape of the kite take 5mm black and yellow coloured quilling strips.
First Join 7 yellow coloured quilling strips together and then 3 black coloured quilling strips ( or as per the colour of your choice) using Fevicol MR.
Leave it to dry.
STEP 2
Roll the joined quilling strips using quilling tool to make the coil of two shades.
Similarly make 2 more coils of medium sized with 4 black coloured and 2 yellow coloured quilling strips using same technique, here you can reverse the colours.
Take half of the yellow coloured quilling strips to make the loops of the earrings.
Here you will get 2 big, 2 medium and 2 small sized coils.
STEP 3
Pinch the coils to replicate the basic shape of the kite which is diamond and the triangular shape of the tail.

STEP 4
Stick the shapes appropriately using Fevicol MR. Leave it to dry. Attach the earring attachments to make it usable.
