This is an apt DIY to get the festive mood going! DIY Diya coasters will add that special festive touch to the days.
• We are going to make the diya shape fabric coasters on this year’s Diwali Occasion. • Take an A4 white paper; draw a simple outline shape of the diya with flame along with the ornamental design on it. • Take any fabric colours of your choice.
• Trace the same design of the diya on it with yellow carbon paper. • Refer to the image.
• First paint a base coat of Fabric Colour White 227 on the ornamental design of the diya as we are going to use Neon Colours • Let it dry completely.
• Paint the design with Acrylic Colours Neon Pink 018, Pearl Metallic Gold 352 and Fabric Colours Orange 217, Violet 225, White 227 and Sky Blue 263. • Leave it to dry completely. • Mark and cut the shape of the diya by leaving ½ inch space from all the sides further, for folding. • Fold the extra fabric towards the rear side and iron it to get the exact shape of the diya.
• Mark and cut the sponge and plain fabric piece from the pink colour fabric. • Take the painted fabric piece of diya shape, plain fabric pieces and the cut out of the sponge. • Stick the painted diya shape fabric by sandwiching the sponge and plain pink fabric securing the edges with Fabric Glue. • Let it dry. • Your diyas will look like this from the front and the rear side.
• Make 5 such diyas coasters for this Diwali.
