Clay Toys Making - Clown
You Will Need:
Paper Bowl, Water Container, Pencil, Ruler / Clay Modelling Tools
Description :
Make this beautiful clay toy with clay which will air dry in a days time. Learn how to make clay toy at home for fun and play,learn and practice some basic techniques of clay modelling.
STEP 1
Take the clay and make a ball in the size of an orange. Take a paper bowl that we will use as a mould
STEP 2
Place the clay in the paper bowl
STEP 3
Press the clay ball in the centre with your thumb. Seal all the cracks that appear by running a wet finger on the cracks for an even look
STEP 4
Continue pressing the clay with your thumb while the other four fingers supporting the bowl from the outer side, so that it does not loose its shape. Seal the cracks as and when they appear
STEP 5
Remove the paper bowl to get a shape like this.
STEP 6
Pick up the bowl in your hand and bend the open edge of the bowl to create a smile and let it sit
STEP 7
Roll a small ball of clay and stick it for the nose of the clown. Use a pencil to make the eyes and the eyebrows
STEP 8
Take a ball of clay and pinch it into a conical shape for the clown's cap
STEP 9
Place the cap on the head of the clown and make a rough texture for the frills of the cap using the edge of a scale
STEP 10
Make four balls in the proportion as shown in the picture. The biggest ball is smaller in size than the ball taken for making the clown's head
STEP 11
The biggest ball is rolled into a conical shape for the body of the clown. The ball smaller than the body is rolled thin in the centre and thick at the ends for the hands. The other two balls are rolled into an oval shape for the shoes
STEP 12
Assemble all the parts as shown in the picture
STEP 13
Draw the details for the clown's dress and the shoes using the edge of a scale and a pencil
STEP 14
Stick the head onto the clown's body with little water and merging the clay at the joints
STEP 15
To make the clown look taller you may use the candy sticks in between the shoes and the body. You may paint the clown in the colour of your choice once the clay has semi dried. Leave it to dry completely
