Description :

Alpona were traditionally created by women in the West Bengal region and is a form of ritual art, similar in technique to rangoli, kolam, and chowk poorana in other parts of South Asia, but with distinct motifs and patterns. We have tried similar patterns on the cushion covers using Acrylic Colours.

STEP 1 : Procure the base
  • Take any plain cushion covers (colour of your choice), we have taken bottle green colour.
  • We are going to paint the cushion cover with an Alpona design using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours.
STEP 2 : Draw and trace the design
  • Take A3 white paper, draw the design inspired by Alpona art on it.
  • Trace the same design on the cushion cover with white carbon paper.
STEP 3 : Paint the design
  • Paint the design with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Gold 352. Let it dry.
STEP 4 : Paint the details
  • Outline the gold design and enhance it using Fevicryl Fabric Colour White 227. Let it dry.
STEP 5 : Final look
  • Your cushion covers with Alpona design will look like this.
