STEP 1 : Prepare the Terracotta Plate
- Clean the terracotta plate to remove any dust or dirt.
- If desired, apply a base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colours White to create a neutral background for your design.
- Allow it to dry completely.
STEP 2 : Draw and trace the Ikat Design
- Take A3 white paper, draw the ikat pattern on it using a pencil.
- Traditional ikat designs often feature repeating geometric shapes, zigzags, and lines that mimic woven fabric.
- You can look at ikat fabric samples for inspiration.
- Trace the design of your ikat hatching pattern on the plate with white carbon paper.
- Start painting the design using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Orange 17, Prussian Blue 19, White 27 and Sky Blue 63.
- Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Finishing touches
- Take zero number brush for the detailing to create the hatching pattern in design.
- Let it dry.
STEP 4 : Final Look
- Once the paint is completely dry, apply a sealant or varnish to protect your design and give it a polished finish if needed.
- Your terracotta plate with a beautiful ikat-inspired design is now ready to be displayed or used as a decorative piece!
