Wooden Plates With Temple Motifs

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours – Black 02, Dark Brown05, Dark Green 06, Golden Yellow 09, Magenta 13, Violet 25, Ultramarine Blue 23, Cerulean Blue 32, Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Gold 352, Fevicryl Mouldit, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Rolling Pin, Clay Carving Tools, Paper Cutter, Wooden Plates, A3 White Paper, Yellow Carbon Paper, Colour Palette, Water Container.

Ancient India is resplendent with beautiful artefacts and this DIY pays an ode to the craftsmanship of the artisans. Mouldit work on wooden plates gives oh! So elegant look to this project.

STEP 1 : Make the design
  • We are going to make temple motifs using Mouldit on wooden plates.
  • We have chosen four temple motifs.
  • Take A3 white papers draw the decides motif design in the size of the plates on it.
  • Take the wooden plate and trace the respective design on it .We are doing out first design with prabhavali so we are tracing the same design on the plate with yellow carbon paper.
  • Refer to the image.
STEP 2 : Mixing Mouldit
  • Take the Mouldit resin base and hardener; mix it thoroughly to make even dough.
  • Take the dough, roll it to make a flat slab with rolling pin to make the base of the motifs.
  • We are going to build the 2 D effect on each plate for each temple motif.
STEP 3 : Build the design
  • Place the OHP sheet on the design and cut the slab according to the outline of the design.
  • Take some clay to build the details of each temple motif with the help of the clay carving tools and Fabric Glue for sticking.
  • Let it dry completely.
  • Stick the prabhavali motif on wooden plate using Fabric Glue.
  • Leave it to dry completely.
STEP 4 : Make other motifs
  • Similarly make the other plates with Mouldit motifs like the Shiva with cobra shakes, the peacocks in a circular design and the elephant with the flowers creepers.
  • Let it dry.
  • Refer to the image.
STEP 5 : Paint the plates and motifs
  • Paint the Prabhavali, the Shiva with cobra shakes, the peacocks in circular design and the elephant with the flowers creepers in antique gold style and the background of wooden base of the plate with Acrylic Colours – Black 02, Dark Brown05, Dark Green 06, Golden Yellow 09, Magenta 13, Violet 25, Ultramarine Blue 23, Cerulean Blue 32 and Pearl Metallic Gold 352
  • Let it dry.
  • Your plates with temple motifs will look like this.
