Pichwai With Texture
You Will Need:
Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Light Green 12, Maroon 14, Prussian Blue 19, Sap Green 21, Leaf Green 62, Teal Blue 68, Neon Pink 018 and Pearl Metallic Gold 352, Fevicryl Pearl Metallic Gold 352, Fevicryl Mouldit, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fevicol MR, Fine Art Brushes, 8” Diameter MDF Disk, Pencil, Soft Plastic Sheet, White Cement/ Plaster of Paris, Masking Tape, Painting Knife, Pencil, Clay Carving Tools, A4 White Paper, Paper Cutter, Colour Palette, Water Container.

This captivating artwork seamlessly blends traditional Pichwai art with a contemporary approach. The intricate details and vibrant hues of the Pichwai style are beautifully rendered on a textured MDF base, adding depth and dimension to the artwork. The result is a stunning piece that celebrates the rich heritage of Pichwai while embracing modern artistic expression.
STEP 1 : Procure the Base
- We are going to make the Pichwai disks with the texture background and clay motifs using White cement and Mouldit.
- Take 3 MDF disk measuring 8” diameters.
STEP 2 : Draw the design
- Take A4 white paper to draw 3 different designs inspired by Pichwai Art on it in the size of the disk.
STEP 3 : Create texture on disk
- We will create 3 different textures on the MDF disks using White Cement paste by adding Fevicol MR in it.
- Prepare the cone out of the soft plastic sheet and masking tape.
- Create the banana leaf, the net effect and the water waves effect using the White cement paste.
- Use a painting knife for the finishing touches.
- Let it dry.
- Refer to the image.
- Leave the space on the disks further for clay motifs.
STEP 4 : Prepare the clay and clay motifs
- Take Mouldit resin and hardener, mix well to make even dough, take the dough, roll it to make the slab with rolling pin, draw and cut the Pichwai Cow and Lotus Motifs from the slab.
- Create the appropriate texture on the clay motifs using Clay carving tools.
- Let it dry.
- Refer to the image.
STEP 5 : Stick the clay motifs
- Paint the texture and the background on the disk with Acrylic Colours Maroon 14, Prussian Blue 19, White 27 and Teal Blue 68.
- Let it dry.
- Stick the Pichwai clay motifs on the painted disks using little amount of the clay and Fabric glue.
- Let it dry.
STEP 6 : Paint the clay motifs
- Paint the clay motifs with Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Light Green 12, Maroon 14, Prussian Blue 19, Sap Green 21, Leaf Green 62, Teal Blue 68, Neon Pink 018 and Pearl Metallic Gold 352.
- Let it dry.
STEP 7 : Final Look
- Your Pichwai Motifs Disks with texture will look like this and ready to use as home decor.
