This simple origami folded umbrella for ganesha looks festive when painted with sparkling colours and enhanced with laces, Ornamental stones and beads


how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Umbrella for the Ganesha - Step 1 | Hobbyideas

Take an A3 sized thick red coloured paper
Draw and cut a circle of about 12 inches in diameter
You may select the colour of the paper to match your decor
Fold the circle into half and then quarter and further fold it twice
Open the folds and bring alternate folds into a mountain fold
Draw 7 concentric circles to form thick and thin borders for decoration
Colour the inner most circle and the alternate bands using Fevicryl Acrylic Sparkling Pearl Colour – Gold
Leave it to dry
The remaining borders are decorated with linear designs made using Liquid Embroidery Glitter - Gold
The design is further decorated with ornamental stones using No Stitch Fabric Glue
Stick the lace on the edge of the circle using No Stitch Fabric Glue

STEP 2:-

Umbrella for the Ganesha - Step 2 | Hobbyideas

Pierce a hole in the centre of the circle and string a thick cord or a lace for hanging
The beads are strung in the cord to further decorate it

STEP 3:-

The umbrella is ready to be hung for the ganpati decoration
