how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Draw or trace the tribal design on the plywood.

STEP 2:-

Take Fevicryl Shilpkar, mix the resin base and hardener evenly to form even dough.
You can sprinkle little talcum powder on your hand to avoid sticking.

STEP 3:-

To make hands and legs of the tribal figures, take Shilpkar dough and roll it into a coil.
Cut the coil to required size of hands and legs and stick them on the plywood using Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue.
Flatten the palms and feet. Mark finger lines using paper cutter.

STEP 4:-

To make body, take a ball of Shilpkar dough and spread it in the body area of the figure. Shape with your fingers.

STEP 5:-

To make face, take a ball of Shilpkar dough and spread it in the face area. Shape with your fingers and use tooth pick and paper cutter to mark the facial features- eyes, lips, ears and nose.
Similarly make headgears by sticking small piece of Shilpkar dough and shape it using your fingers.

STEP 6:-

To make leaves for dress headgear and necklace, take Shilpkar dough and roll it flat using rolling pin. Let it semi set (approx 6-8 minutes).
Cut leaves of different sizes from it. Mark the veins in the leaves using paper cutter.
Using Fevicryl No-Stitch Fabric Glue stick the bigger leaves to form skirt and smaller leaves to form necklace for both the tribal figures. Stick few leaves on head gear.
To make belts, take Shilpkar dough and roll it in thin strip. Stick this strip on waist. Prick holes with toothpick,

STEP 7:-

To make spear, roll a thin coil of Shilpkar dough and stick it. Flatten and shape top of spear to make spear blade.

STEP 8:-

To make skull, take a small ball of Shilpkar dough and stick on the skull design between the two tribal figures. Spread and shape with fingers. Use toothpick to make eyes, nose and mouth.
Leave to harden.

STEP 9:-

Paint the whole piece using Fevicryl Acrylic Colour- Black.
Leave to dry.
Sponge dab Fevicryl Acrylic Colour- White on the tribal figures and background.
Leave to dry.
Sponge dab Fevicryl acrylic Colour- Deep Brilliant Purple on the tribal figures and back ground.Leave to dry.

STEP 10:-

Take Fevicryl 3D Cone Outliner Pearl Metallic – Gold and make jewellery on tribal figures and draw tribal motifs on the background.
Leave to dry.

STEP 11:-

Apply 2-3 coats of Fevicryl No-Stitch Fabric Glue for glossy finish.

Fevicryl Shilpkar- 3 packs, Fevicryl Acrylic Colours- Black 02, White 27, Deep Brilliant Purple 64, Fevicryl 3D Cone Liner Pearl Metallic- Gold 352, Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue, Colour pallet. Plywood- 8 inches X 8 inches, Talcum powder, Toothpick, Paper cutter, Tribal design –man and woman, Rolling pin (belan), Sponge, Carbon paper, Pencil.
