how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Tribal Mask - Step 1 | Hobbyideas

Draw lines on MDF board to divide the area. Refer picture.

STEP 2:-

Mix Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue, chalk powder and little water, to make a paste.
Apply this paste on the MDF board leaving the mask area. Make lines for texturing using a fork. Make texture in different direction for different sections. Refer main picture.
Leave to dry.

STEP 3:-

Paint the MDF board with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours- Crimson, Sap Green, Maroon and Indian Red. Refer main picture.
Leave to dry.
Lightly sponge dab Fevicryl Acrylic Colour- White on the textured area to highlight the textures.
Leave to dry.

STEP 4:-

Take Fevicryl Shilpkar, mix the resin base and hardener evenly to form even dough.
You can sprinkle little talcum powder on your hands to avoid sticking.

STEP 5:-

To make the partition lines on the textured area, take Shilpkar dough and roll it in thin long coil. Take two coils and twist them together to get twisted coils. Stick the twisted coils on the partition lines and on the boundary of the mask area using Fevicryl No-Stitch Fabric Glue.
Leave to harden.

STEP 6:-

To make tribal mask, take Shilpkar dough and roll it on a flat surface with a rolling pin.
Leave it to semi set for approx 7-8 minutes.
Mark and cut a oval shape for the face.
Place this oval face on the rounded surface of the can, to get a 3D face look.
You can sprinkle little talcum powder on the can to avoid sticking.
Leave to harden.

STEP 7:-

To make other facial features, take Shilpkar dough and spread it in the hair and forehead area. Apply a coat of Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue before spreading. Mark hair and fore head finer details using toothpick and paper cutter.
Similarly make eyes, nose, nose ring and lips with Shilpkar. Stick them on the face using Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric glue. Refer main picture.
Stick the face on the MDF board.

STEP 8:-

To make ears, take Shilpkar dough and make two half round flat shapes. Stick them on the MDF board.
To make earrings, take Shilpkar dough and roll it in thin long coil. Interlock two coils and stick them as earring on the board. Similarly make second earring.
To make necklace, take Shilpkar dough and roll it in flat long strip. Stick this strip as necklace. Stick a small flat round piece of Shilpkar as pendant. Mark design in the necklace and pendant using toothpick and paper cutter.

STEP 9:-

To make hair bun, take Shilpkar dough and shape it as a dome. Stick it on the left side of the hairs. Border this bun with a strip of Shilpkar and mark deep lines with paper cutter to depict fringes around the bun. Make two leaves of Shilpkar dough, mark veins and stick them above the bun.

STEP 10:-

For hanging flower rope, stick twisted coil and for flower, take Shilpkar dough and stick a flat round shape. Deep cut using paper cutter to make petals and make hole with back side of brush in the centre of the flower.
Leave to harden.
Do not paint to Shilpkar to give a raw clay look.
