Tie And Dye Flower Garland For Ganesha
You Will Need:
Fevicryl Soft Acrylic Colours - Lemon Yellow 211, Crimson 204, Dark Green 206, Fevicryl Liquid Embroidery Glitter - Gold Rush 408, Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Colour Palette, A4 Sized White Paper, Red Carbon Paper, Water Container, Pencil, Ruler, Scissors, 1 Meter White Muslin Cloth, Flower Making Wire, Green Flower Making Tape, White Coloured Pearls

Tie and Dye techniques of painting fabric is used to paint the fabric and then made into flowers to make this garland for Ganesha. These brightly coloured flowers can be otherwise used to make the toran or the rangoli around the prashad thali
STEP 1
Take half a meter of white muslin cloth
Spread it flat on the surface and pick up the fabric from the centre and tie a knot in the centre
Gather the fabric and tie more knots keeping a distance of about 3 to 4 inches
Wet the fabric and squeeze it to remove all the extra water
STEP 2
Colour the fabric using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Lemon Yellow and Crimson
To colour the fabric use liquidy colours for better absorption of colours in the fabric
Leave it to semi dry
Open the fabric and leave it to dry
STEP 3
Draw a flower in 4 different sizes, first on an A4 sized white paper
Trace 12 flowers of 2 ½”, 12 flowers of 2”, 12 flowers of 1 ½”, and 20 flowers of 1” radius on the dyed cloth
STEP 4
Cut out all the flowers along it's outlines
STEP 5
Outline all the flowers using Liquid Embroidery Glitter - Gold Rush
Leave it to dry
STEP 6
Take the flower making wire and loop the white pearl in it
STEP 7
Cover the entire wire by winding green flower making tape around the wire
STEP 8
To make the layered flower, take one flower in each size and cut a slit from the edge to the centre for each flower
Start with the smallest flower to the bigger one. Turn it around the wire and stick the edges with No Stitch Fabric Glue
Repeat the same with other flowers in an increasing order
Make 12 in each size and 8 buds
STEP 9
The flower will look like this once its completed
STEP 10
For making the leaves take half a meter of white muslin cloth
Tie and dye using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Lemon Yellow and Dark Green
You can just tye and dye the fabric with half green and half light green colours
Leave the fabric to dry completely
STEP 11
Cut about 25 - 30 leaves both in small and big sizes
The biggests leaf being about 4" long and the other leaves proportionately smaller
STEP 12
Outline all the leaves using Liquid Embroidery Glitter - Gold Rush
Leave it to dry
Take the flower making wire and cut it into 4 to 5 inches of long pieces
Tie the green flower making tape to the wire
Crumple all the leaves and stick them on the wire using No Stitch Fabric Glue
STEP 13
Take two wires which are about 15" long
You may join two of the wires if the length of the wire is small
Cover the wire using green flower making tape
Arrange the flowers and the leaves on the longer wire and twist the wires of the flowers and the leaves around that of the long wire Finally cover the entire wire once again with the green tape to fasten it properly
STEP 14
You may leave one flower separate to place it in the hands of the Ganesha
The garland will look like this once its completed
