A quick DIY to decorate pots for the beautiful festival of Pongal. How about painting some chai matkas to serve hot chai with a Pongal Dish?

how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Clean the surface of the pot/matka thoroughly.

Apply a base paint of your choice. I have used Fevicryl Acrylic White and Fevicryl Acrylic Pearl Metallic colours- Blue and Pink to give the base coat for these Matkas. Allow the paint to dry.
Please note that since I intend to use these pots, I have not painted near the rim/mouth of the pots.

STEP 3:-

POTS FOR PONGAL - Step 3 | Hobbyideas

Using Fevicryl 3D outliner cones, enhance the beauty of the Matka with a simple design. Use a colour of your choice. Allow this to dry.

STEP 4:-

Use Fevicryl Fabric Glue to stick stones and Embellishments.

You can Apply a coat of Varnish(Aquador varnish) just to the painted area if required.
I just love the way how the pots look when stacked one on top of the other!

You could also go ahead and paint a huge matka to serve your Pongal! After all its not just the taste, but also the presentation that needs to be appealing.
Happy Pongal!!
