Village scene captured in a pot.

how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Wash and dry the terracotta pot.

STEP 2:-

Study the scenery you want to decoupage and mark the placement of human figures on the pot.
Paint the background of the scenery like- clouds, birds, lake, distance houses etc on the pot using Fevicryl Acrylic Colour- Lemon Yellow, Dark Green, Light Green, Burnt Sienna, Dark Brown, Yellow Ochre, Black and White.
You may create shades of your choice by mixing two acrylic colours.
Leave to dry.

STEP 3:-

Carefully cut the human figures, animals etc (the part that you have not included in the painting).
Reverse the cut-outs and gently rub sandpaper on it. This would make the paper thin.

STEP 4:-

Make a mixture of Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue with water in ratio 3:1. Use this mixture and stick the cut-outs on the pot, take care no air bubble is trapped.
Leave to dry.

STEP 5:-

Touch up with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours where ever required so that the cut-outs blend nicely with the background design.
Leave to dry.

STEP 6:-

Apply 2-3 coats of Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue on the whole piece to get a glossy look.
Leave to dry.
