Marine Theme For Ganesha Backdrop

Want to make something different this time to welcome Ganesha. This shilpkar decorated backdrop with a marine theme makes an unusual decor. All that you need to do this DIY is Shilpkar, Acrylic colours and a card board.


how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Take a full sized drawing paper or cartridge paper
Fold the paper half vertically
Draw an arched design with curvilinear lines to represent water on the half side of the paper as shown in the picture
You may select the design of your choice
Trace the design on the other half of the paper to maintain the symmetry

STEP 2:-

Trace the design on the mount board using a carbon paper
Colour the design using shades of blue made by mixing Acrylic Colour - Cerulean Blue and White
Leave it to dry

STEP 3:-

Cut out two fish forms from the mount board as shown in the image
Colour the fishes in Acrylic Colour - Orange mixed with a little of Crimson
Leave it to dry

Mix Shilpkar Resin Base and Hardener in equal quantities to form an even white dough
Leave it for drying for 5 to 10 min
Roll the coils in appropriate sizes to be pasted along the design outlines of the fishes and the arch
The thickness of the coil is about 5mm thick and may reduce as per the design
Do not mix all the packets of Shilpkar at the same time. Mix two to three packs at a time to so that the dough does not dry
Use No Stitch Fabric Glue to stick the coils on the painted cardboard
Leave it to dry

STEP 5:-

Once the coils dry, colour them in a shade of blue for the arch and shades of orange for the fishes using Acrylic Colour - Cerulean Blue, White, Orange and Crimson
Leave it to dry

STEP 6:-

Stick the fishes on the top of the arch using No Stitch Fabric Glue in an arrangement as shown in the picture
Sponge dab Sparkling Pearl Colour - Silver on the coils to highlight the design
The coils on the lower part of the arch are sponge dabbed in a mixture of Sparkling Pearl Colour - Silver and Orange
Leave it to dry

Stick white stones on the makhar using Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue
