Kite Flying Painted Scene

This fun filled and colourful painted scene of the kite festival is a mixed media painting. It is a creative and interesting art and craft activity for children. Display it on the table or hang it on the walls of your home to decorate your children's room.


how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Take a thick white card paper and draw a picture of a boy, dog and a kite spool
Outline all of them using Acrylic Colour - Black 02 and let it dry

STEP 2:-

Take a wooden placemat measuring 10" x 10" inches in size or you may take the size of your choice
Mix Acrylic Colour - Lemon Yellow with White to get a pastel yellow shade and apply it on the placemat as a basecoat and leave it to dry
You may give two coats for an even finish

STEP 3:-

Apply a thin layer of woody clay on the lower side of the placemat to denote the ground
Just above the layer of the woody clay apply a layer of the stone clay to give a pebbled look and feel

STEP 4:-

Take an 8 no. flat brush, hold it vertically and dab Acrylic - Light Green Colour for the tree in texture
Leave it to dry

STEP 5:-

Take the outlined picture of a boy, dog and the kite spool
Colour the shirt of the boy in Acrylic - Chrome Yellow and the shorts in Red. Let it dry
The facial features are made using Liquid Embroidery Colours
Make two blobs with Liquid Embroidery - White for the eyes and give two drops of black Liquid Embroidery – Black on it for the eyes
Draw thin lines for the eyebrows using Liquid Embroidery Cone - Black
The nose and the mouth are made using Liquid Embroidery Cone - Orange
The hair, collar and the lower edge of the T shirt are also coloured using Liquid Embroidery - Black

STEP 6:-

Colour the patches on the body of the dog in Liquid Embroidery - Black
Leave it to dry

STEP 7:-

The handle of the spool is coloured in Liquid Embroidery - Red and the thread in Lilac
Leave it to dry

STEP 8:-

Draw two kites, the bigger kite measuring 2" x 2" inches in size and the other smaller one being smaller on an OHP sheet .
Outline the kites using Liquid Embroidery Glitter Colour - Pink and Red
Leave it to dry

STEP 9:-

Fill in the kites using Water Based - Glass Colours in the shades of your choice
Leave it to dry

STEP 10:-

Cut out the boy, dog and the kite spool from the paper
Arrange and stick them on the already painted placemat using Fevicol MR
