Hand Painted Kaftan

The traditional miniature style of painting, can be a beautiful design motif for painting on a kaftan. Select the paintings of your choice and paint it using acrylic colours on any fabric surface.


how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Take a white mulmul kaftan

STEP 2:-

Gather and tie a thread at a distance of about 15” from the bottom of the kaftan

STEP 3:-

Dye it with light brown colour made by mixing Fevicryl Acrylic Colours – Dark Brown with White
Leave it for sometime till it semi dries

STEP 4:-

Untie the kaftan, when it has semi dried, leave it to dry completely

STEP 5:-

Create a lady drawing in the miniature style of painting on a full imperial sized drawing paper

STEP 6:-

Trace the drawing on the dyed fabric using yellow carbon paper

STEP 7:-

Paint it with Sparkling Pearl Colours – Dark Copper, Gold, Gold Dust, Cherry Red, Golden Black and Golden Green appropriately.
Decorate the ornaments with Liquid Embroidery Cone Pearl Metallic – Silver 351
Colour the hair black
Leave it to dry

STEP 8:-

Trace 4 different sized lotus flowers on a pink polycot fabric and 2 leaves on an off white polycot fabric

STEP 9:-

Colour the lotuses in Sparkling Pearl Colours - Gold Dust and Cherry Red 916
Leave it to dry

STEP 10:-

Colour the leaves in Sparkling Pearl Colours - Gold Dust 918, Golden Green 911 and Golden Black 917.

STEP 11:-

Cut and stick the lotus flowers and the leaves around the painting by using No Stitch Fabric Glue
Leave it to dry

STEP 12:-

Outline the lateral, front and rear sides as well as the neckline of the kaftan with Fevicryl Sparkling Pearl Colour - Gold Dust 918
Leave it to dry
