This floral diya which has been made with clay is ideal for Diwali. Clay modelling is just so easy and then can be painted in colours of your choice and desire. You can make several such diyas in smaller shapes and different sizes.
Take Shilpkar resin base and hardener, mix it thoroughly to make an even dough.
Take the dough ball, roll it to make a thin slab. Leave it to semi dry. Draw a few small, medium and big sized petals on it. Cut along the outlines of the petals neatly.
Take the lid of the pot which you can recycle or you can take a bowl shaped diya to convert it into flower. Stick the bigger petals from the outer side of the lid using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
Similarly, start with the second layer of the medium sized petals to the small sized petals to create layered flower using Fabric Glue. Take some dough to make the centre of the flower. Make textures in the centre using clay carving tools Your completed flower will look like this. Refer to the image.
Paint the flower in a shading effect using Acrylic Colours - Lemon Yellow 11, Coral Red 66 and Acrylic Colour Pearl - Silver 351. Paint the bottom side of the flower with Acrylic Colour - Sap Green 21. Let it dry.
Enhance the flower by sticking ornamental stones using Fabric Glue. Let it dry. You can light the tealite in the centre of the flower for the festival of lights. We have made diyas shaped like a lotus and petals that are layered, one can make other flowers or forms to make it into a tealite holder. Use festive sparkling and pearl colours to give that rich and festive look.
