Make your own festive diya cover using OHP sheet and hand modeled Shilpkar motifs. Colour them using pearl colours to add a beautiful sheen to your creation

how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Diya Cover  - Step 1 | Hobbyideas

Mix Shilpkar Resin Base and Hardener thoroughly to make an even white dough
You will need about four to five packets of Shilpkar to make this diya cover

STEP 2:-

Make 20 medium sized balls (1 inch diameter sized balls) from the dough
Make 18 long leaf shapes for two motifs (9 leaves for each design motif)
Arrange the leaves as shown in the image

STEP 3:-

Make 2 paisleys by pressing and pinching the clay
Stick the paisley in the centre of the leaves arranged
If need be use No Stitch Fabric Glue for sticking the paisley on the leaves

STEP 4:-

To make the base of the tealight, take a ball of the Shilpkar dough and roll it into a coil
Flatten the coil, take a 10” sized coil and cut out the extra coil
Make a ring out of the flat coil, stick and merge the ends

STEP 5:-

Stick the paisley motifs on the ring base using No Stitch Fabric Glue
Paint the ring base and the paisley motif with the leaves using Acrylic Pearl Colours - Blue, Turquoise Blue and Pearl Metallic - Green in a shading manner
Leave it to dry

STEP 6:-

Take an OHP sheet measuring 10” x 6” in size
Make a cylinder and join the ends using a transparent tape
You may stick the edges using No Stitch Fabric Glue
Outline the edges of the cylinder, the paisleys and the petals using Liquid Embroidery Glitter - Silver
Leave it to dry

STEP 7:-

Diya Cover  - Step 7 | Hobbyideas

Stick white ornamental stones on the cylinder randomly, as well as on the paisleys using No Stitch Fabric Glue
Leave it to dry

STEP 8:-

Diya Cover  - Step 8 | Hobbyideas

Outline the paisleys and the petals using Liquid Embroidery Glitter - Silver
Leave it to dry

STEP 9:-

Diya Cover  - Step 9 | Hobbyideas

Place the decorated OHP cylinder in the ring to complete the diya cover

STEP 10:-

Fevicryl Acrylic Pearl Colours - Blue 505, Turquoise Blue 520, Fevicryl Acrylic Pearl Metallic - Green 557, Fevicryl Liquid Embroidery Glitter - Silver 402, Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue, Fevicryl Non Sticky Shilpkar, Fine Art Brushes, Colour Palette , OHP Sheet, Ornamental Stones (white coloured), Talcum Powder, Transparent Tape, Water Container, Paper Cutter, Ruler

Will ohp sheets not melt by diya fire?
