Description :

Create stunning cushion covers with a traditional Patola style design using fabric painting techniques. This DIY project guides you through painting, stitching, and embellishing your fabric to achieve a beautiful, handcrafted finish.

STEP 1 : Source the base material
  • We are going to paint the patola design on the fabric to make the cushion covers.
  • Take 1 meter of black fabric.
STEP 2 : Draw and trace the design.
  • Take A3 white paper and draw the Patola design in a 16” x 16” size on it.
  • Mark the measurement of the cushion on the fabric and trace the design on it using yellow carbon paper and a pencil.
STEP 3 : Paint the design
  • Paint the design first with a base coat of Fevicryl Fabric Colour White 227. Let it dry.
  • Then, paint the design with appropriate shades using Chrome Yellow 203, Crimson 204, Orange 217, White 227, and Leaf Green 262. Let it dry completely.
STEP 4 : Stitch the cushion covers
  • Stitch the painted fabric to make the cushion cover.
  • Attach the green woolen pom-poms using needle & thread.
STEP 5 : Finishing touches
  • Enhance the design on the cushion cover by sticking foil mirrors in between the design using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
  • Secure the edges of the foil mirrors with Fevicryl 3D Outliner White 707. Let it dry.
STEP 6 : Final look

Your completed cushion covers, featuring the intricate patola design, will have a vibrant and traditional look.
