Description :

This colourful butterfly on the coaster is made using the hand building techniques of forming clay. These butterflies can be a part of your wall frames or fridge magnets. Colour them differently and use them creatively in the designs you wish to create

STEP 1
Take a coaster, we have taken a coaster with a bamboo weaved look and corns printed on it You may also colour the design on a plain MDF wooden coaster if you cant find a similar one
STEP 2
Mix Shilpkar Resin Base and Hardener to form an even white dough Take little dough and roll it into a small ball Further roll it in to a conical shape
STEP 3
Take a scale or a butter knife and make this checkered texture on the corn Make two such corns with the texture
STEP 4
Give a base coat of dark brown colour to the corn made by mixing Acrylic Colours - Dark Brown and Black Leave it to dry
STEP 5
Give a shading of lighter brownish colour made by mixing Acrylic Colours - Chrome Yellow, White, Orange, and Burnt Sienna Leave it to dry
STEP 6
Roll thin coils from the dough which are narrow at one end and slightly broader at the other end Flatten the coils into grass blades
STEP 7
Roll a very thin slab using a rolling pin Draw the wings on the slab Or you may draw it on an a4 sized paper and trace it on the slab using a carbon paper Cut the shapes drawn using a sharp paper cutter To make the body of the butterfly roll a coil which is narrow at one end and broad at the other Make grooves on the body of the butterfly to insert the wings
STEP 8
Once all the parts of the butterfly are semi hard assemble them together to form a butterfly You may keep some paper support below the wings for them to stay at an angle Leave it to dry completely
STEP 9
Assemble the corns, the grass blades and the butterfly on the coaster and stick them in place using No Stitch Fabric Glue Colour the grass blades and the butterfly in the colours of your choice using Acrylic Colours Leave it to dry
