This wall frame looks earthy and tribal and is made using a technique of colour application in layers thus creating a 3D effect with colours .The other material used to enhance the painting are natural shells, jute cord and colours . 

how to do it yourself

STEP 1:-

Cut a fine art canvas sheet in A4 size
Sponge dab a base coat with a terracotta shade made by mixing Dark Brown and Orange
Give two coats for an even look

STEP 2:-

Draw an African tribal face on an A4 sized white paper keeping extra space on all the sides

STEP 3:-

Trace the face on the coloured canvas using carbon paper

STEP 4:-

Colour the face using 3D Cone Outliner - White
The raised effect on the mask is created by applying 6 to 7 thick layers of the 3D Cone Outliner
Make sure that each layer is added only once the layer below has dried

STEP 5:-

Stick shells in a geometric pattern for the headgear using No Stitch Fabric Glue

STEP 6:-

Paint the eyes, nose and the face using Acrylic Colour - Black
Let it dry

STEP 7:-

Take a wooden frame of 20'' by 20'' in size, with holes drilled on the inner edge of the frame
Punch holes on the extra space left around the face using a single punch

STEP 8:-

Use a jute cord and pass it through the holes punched on the canvas and the frame so as to hold the tribal face in place

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Dark Brown 05, Orange 17, Fevicryl 3D Cone Outliner Non Sticky - White 707, Fevicryl No Stitch Fabric Glue, Fine Art Canvas, Fine Art Brushes A4 Sized White Paper, Jute Cords, Pencil, Eraser, Paper Cutter, Shells, Sponge, White Carbon Paper, Single Paper Punch, Wooden Frame
