These flowers are made using one of the basic hand building techniques of forming clay called the coil technique. Twist and turn these coils to make beautiful flowers to decorate a nameplate, a vase or a wall frame.

STEP 1

Take a wooden plate cutout from a tree bark or an MDF wooden placemat or the base of your choice
Leave it natural looking or you may colour it using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours
We have left it natural

STEP 2

Take Shilpkar Resin Base and Hardener and mix it in equal quantities

STEP 3

Knead it to form an even white dough
Leave it aside for 10 minutes to harden a little

STEP 4

Roll a coil of about 2-3 inches long and narrow at both the ends on an OHP sheet
Roll about 12 -15 coils to make one flower
Leave it for some more time if they are still very soft

STEP 5

Flatten the coils evenly and pinch the edges of the coils thin

STEP 6

Hold the coil at one end and turn the other end to make a twisted coil
Repeat the same for all the coils
Leave it to dry completely

STEP 7

Colour the twisted coils in a base coat of Acrylic Colour White
Leave it to dry

STEP 8

Sponge dab Acrylic Colour Deep Brilliant Purple only on the twisted edges to highlight the petals

STEP 9

Roll the coils of about 2 - 3 inches long and narrow at both the ends on an OHP sheet to write the word "JOY"
Leave it to dry completely

STEP 10
Name Plate  JOY - Step 10 | Hobbyideas

Colour the letters JOY in a base coat of Acrylic Colour White
Leave it to dry
Sponge dab a light shade of Cerulean Blue on the letters JOY
Leave it to dry

STEP 11

Arrange all the flowers and the leaves on the wooden plate in the arrangement of your choice
Stick the flowers and the letters using No Stitch Fabric Glue

STEP 12
Name Plate  JOY - Step 12 | Hobbyideas

Arrange the letters JOY and stick it using No Stitch Fabric Glue to complete the look
