Trace the kerala design on the canvas with a fine lead pencil. Draw the major design and leave the very small detail to be done later in the painting.
Generally Fevicryl Acrylic Colours are used to paint Kerala murals, as these colours are very bright. And only a few colors are used like blue, yellow, crimson, black and green.
White areas are un-painted and generally no white color is used.
1) First an outline is painted with Crimson Colour
2) The area can then be filled with Yellow colour or left white.
If the base color is left white (canvas color). The second color could be used to shade in the area, In this painting for krishna the blue color is used to shade.
If the base is colored with yellow (in kerala murals the base is always coated with yellow), the second colour used is Crimson to do the shading.
The painting is completed by giving a Crimson fine outline.
In the painting, I've finished with blue outline for the Krishna and red outline for Radha.
